Services
We want you to get better - and stay better.
Swift help by professional, qualified physiotherapists can be the best way forward for all sorts of life's problems.
You might be surprised at just how beneficial physiotherapy can be and the wide range of conditions it can help.
It certainly isn't just for sportsmen and women - far from it.
It's a fact that our bodies and modern life don't always get on with each other too well.
Men, women and children of all ages and all walks of life can really gain a better quality of life from professional treatment and advice.
Getting the right treatment is crucial and what's right for you will vary, depending on what's wrong!
We will only recommend a course of action after a proper diagnosis.
Sometimes you'll need a combination of treatments and sometimes just the one.
With all of our clients, whatever the problem, our goal is to help you get better and then stay better by providing both immediate treatment and long-term prevention advice.
Manual therapy is the manipulation or mobilisation of joints and soft tissue - this requires a 'hands-on' approach to get those stiff bits moving.
During your first meeting with your physiotherapist, an account of your past medical history will be taken and any medication you are taking will be noted.
Your therapist can then conduct a thorough examination of the current problem.
Depending on what it is, it may be necessary to remove some of your clothing and it is helpful if you wear something loose; some people bring a pair of shorts.
After the examination your problem will be thoroughly explained to you and your full agreement will be gained before any procedures/treatments are carried out.
The Thames Valley Clinic was formed as a partnership in 1992, originally at premises in Derby Road, Caversham.
Over the years the clinic has built a strong reputation among GPs, Consultants and most importantly our clients, for exceptional quality in the treatment of all types of physical injuries and disabilities, for everyone of any age, from any walk of life.
In 2014 the original partners elected to retire, handing on the name of the clinic to Mirjam Helmschrott-Bowden - one of the Physiotherapists who had worked in the business for several years.
If you would like to make an appointment to see one of our physiotherapy team and you are not claiming on any medical insurance, then you do not need a doctor's referral.
Just call and make an appointment - it's that simple!
If you are intending to claim for your physiotherapy treatment on a medical insurance policy then please contact your insurance company to determine if a doctor's referral is required.
We cannot be more specific as all medical insurance policies differ in this regard.
