At the Chartered Physiotherapy Clinic Ltd, all our physiotherapists are Members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) and are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
All Occupational Therapist are registered with the HCPC and British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT).
In addition, staff with expertise in a particular area belong to special interest groups.
Our team all have many years experience working both in the private sector and the NHS, and all staff undertake regular further training to maintain their skills and update their knowledge.
Musculoskeletal physiotherapy is primarily concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of aches, pains, stiffness and weakness anywhere in the body.
In addition to spending time listening to each patient's history of their symptoms, we perform numerous diagnostic tests to determine which structure/s and part/s of the body is causing the problem.
Then, according to which structures have been damaged or are at fault, we may use different treatment techniques to reduce pain, and increase flexibility and strength.
Neurological physiotherapy is the treatment of individuals who have neurological impairments.
Damage to your central nervous system, including your brain and spinal cord, means that correct messages from your brain are not reaching the affected parts of your body to tell it what to do and vice versa.
This can result in loss of movement and sensation, uncoordinated movement, weak muscles, spasm and tremor.
Physiotherapy works differently for each individual and many different factors can affect how well it works.
The benefits of sports and exercise far outweigh the risks, but occasionally injuries do happen.
Sports injuries can result from sudden trauma, or repetitive stress associated with athletic activities, and can affect bones or soft tissue (muscles, ligaments, nerves and tendons).
If you have injured yourself, you may have immediate pain, tenderness, swelling, bruising, and restricted movement or stiffness in the affected area.
Sometimes these symptoms may only be noticeable several hours after exercising or playing sports.
