West Kirby Physiotherapy
At West Kirby Physiotherapy, we feel that the health and safety of our patients and staff is paramount. If you are unable to wear a face mask, we will offer a virtual appointment to ensure that you can still receive treatment. All our staff will continue to wear full PPE and adhere to the robust infection control measures we have had in place throughout the pandemic.

West Kirby Physiotherapy was opened in 1996 by two partners and has now grown to having ten therapists delivering over 3,500 treatments each year. We pride ourselves on the services we offer to all our patients who range from the elderly with mobility problems to Premier League footballers, international cricketers and Olympic medal-winning athletes.

Our team of highly expert physiotherapists provide assessment of a wide range of injuries and conditions with the aim of enabling our patients to maintain or return to their optimum level of performance, health and wellbeing in the shortest possible time. Jo has been teaching her shoulder course for nearly 18 years.
Services
Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability.
We will help to improve mobility in affected joints and muscles as well as helping to relieve pain and discomfort.
Physiotherapy can also improve sporting performance, and help to prevent future injuries, stress and strain, and therefore the need for lengthy rehabilitation.
On your first visit to West Kirby Physiotherapy, our therapists will assess you thoroughly to properly diagnose your problem and then discuss the different treatment options that are available with you.
Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact flexibility, strengthening and endurance exercises that particularly focus on core strength and helps to improve general fitness and wellbeing.
Pilates has something to offer people of all ages and levels of ability and fitness, from beginners to elite athletes.
Regular pilates can improve posture, muscle tone, balance and joint mobility, as well as relieve stress and tension.
At West Kirby Physiotherapy, our Pilates classes are all led by Chartered Physiotherapists who have all completed Pilates training with the Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute (APPI).
The vestibular system sits within your ear.
There are several ways in which this can become dysfunctional and cause dizziness and balance problems however this can often be helped with specialist physiotherapy which we provide at West Kirby Physiotherapy.
Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is characterised typically by intermittent vertigo triggered by particular movements.
It usually lasts for a few seconds or up to a minute at a time and gives the illusion that you are still moving, or that the world is moving around you.
Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine.
Fine needles are inserted at certain sites in the body for therapeutic or preventative purposes.
This results in the body producing natural substances, such as pain-relieving endorphins.
It's likely that these naturally released substances are responsible for the beneficial effects experienced with acupuncture.
At West Kirby Physiotherapy, depending on the outcome of your assessment our physiotherapists may recommend and discuss the possibility of using acupuncture alongside other physiotherapy techniques.
Although therapeutic massage is often relaxing, the main of is not relaxation.
Therapeutic massage works on the body's deeper soft tissue structures by softening, lengthening and stretching them to ease and increase the range of movement.
It encourages relaxation and increases the production of endorphins - the body's natural mood elevators and painkillers.
Therapeutic massage can relax muscle tissue, which may lead to decreased joint and nerve compression, increased joint and muscle range of motion.
