About me I started off as a dancer, studying at Middlesex University for a degree in Dance Science.
The course included structural fitness with knowledge and practice of Pilates and yoga among other focuses.
We did this to understand how the body moved in dance, and how vital good posture and technique was for performance and injury prevention.
My interests developed as I wanted to help my colleagues with their injuries and I later enrolled at the North London School of Sports Massage where I received my professional diploma.
Osteopathy is an alternative natural healthcare that emphasizes the relationship between structure and function of the body and the body's ability to heal itself.
Osteopathy is recognised as a primary healthcare profession.
One main concept within osteopathy is that the body is a unit.
This means that osteopaths will look holistically and globally to be able to fully understand the complaint that a patient presents with.
Osteopaths don't just focus on the bones and spine, they also take into consideration issues relating to the soft tissue structures including muscles, tendons and ligaments but also the visceral organs.
After giving birth, a third of women have weakness in both their tummy and pelvic floor muscles.
The tummy gap is called Diastasis Recti.
This can cause back pain, and symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD) - associated with pain in the pubic bone.
This instability of weak muscles in several areas can cause a woman to have less control of the bladder and bowel.
Some discomfort in sexual activity can be experienced.
The conditions can be improved with osteopathic treatment, exercises and after care advice.
