Pelvic Health Physiotherapy offers specialist assessment and rehabilitation for women who are experiencing symptoms such as leaking, painful sex, bladder and bowel issues or pelvic pain. Pelvic Health Physiotherapy aims to empower women to gain freedom from their pelvic health symptoms/concerns which are often preventing them from living the life they wish to live.
Prenatal Physiotherapy is there for pregnancy related pain associated with conditions such as pelvic girdle and back pain. We use manual therapy, soft tissue techniques with plenty of advice and exercises to help you at home. So, there is no need to struggle on and put up with aches and pains" just because you're pregnant". Prenatal Physiotherapy is also there for Pelvic Floor help - we can check how you are at activating them and relaxing them, so you can use them to your advantage during pregnancy and beyond.
We can also give you advice on good positioning for labour and on early days recovery after caesarean or vaginal delivery.

Services
I've been a chartered physiotherapist since 2003 and worked as a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with people of all ages within the NHS and private practice for many years.
Women's health has been my sole passion for the last 10 years and to help women with obstetric and postnatal related conditions get back on track.
I have completed postgraduate training to help me assess and treat common conditions such pelvic girdle pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, abdominal diastasis and urogynaecological issues like painful sex, urinary leaks and prolapse.

Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP) affects up to 1 in 5 pregnant women.
PGP can be felt in 1 or more of the 3 pelvic joints, the pubic joint at the front (leading to groin pain) or either of the 2 sacroiliac joints at the back (leading to pain in the bum/hip/top of the leg).
It is usually a result of the increased sensitivity in these joints during pregnancy, the changes in posture that pregnancy brings about and sometimes the general stresses and strains of life!
As an experienced clinicians, we can help find the problem areas with a thorough assessment.

Pregnancy and then bringing a baby into the world is a major physical event for your body to go through, so it makes sense to have a Physiotherapy service dedicated to women after the event.
Physio for new mums usually begins with a postnatal MOT.
This postnatal check is a must for any woman who has been pregnant, no matter when that was.
Pelvic floor and abdominal muscles have been stretched/strained and delivery (C section or vaginal) is challenging, so a postnatal check is a good way to see where your body is at, before moving forward.

Here are some of the most useful pieces of equipment to help you with your pregnancy or postnatal home program.
Your program is specific to you and your particular needs and will be given to you during your session with Maternity Physio.
This equipment may not be appropriate for you and everyone is different.
It may make your condition worse by using the wrong piece of equipment so only purchase what has been recommended for you by Maternity Physio or appropriate health practitioner.
This list is by no means definitive, just what I found I was recommending for clients to find themselves.
