Services
Blairgowrie Physiotherapy was established in 2009 by Managing Director and Chartered Physiotherapist Carla Thomson.
The clinic provides a service to the public and also accepts referrals from insurance companies.
It is registered as a BUPA provider, AXA PPP and with other Medical Insurance companies like WPA, Aviva, simply health etc.
The clinic does provide a Home visit/Domicilary service on request, this can be arranged directly with the clinic for an extra fee.
The clinic works regularly with sports teams and provides onsite physiotherapy and massage for sports clubs and sporting events.
Physiotherapy can be effective in treating both acute (new or recent) and chronic (long established) problems.
Physiotherapy can help diagnose the problem at fault, help repair damage, accelerate the healing process and reduce pain and stiffness and prevent recurrence.
With years of experience, the chartered physiotherapists at blairgowrie physiotherapy clinic bring a wealth of experience and skills to the clinic.
Back pain - manual physiotherapy treatment techniques, exercises and acupuncture are all effective ways of treating back pain.
Your first session will last about 45 minutes.
During this time the Physiotherapist will listen carefully and take note of your account of the injury or painful complaint.
A note of your medical history and any other complaints that may be relevant to the affected area will also be made.
The affected area (and any other area that may be relevant) will be examined to evaluate the exact nature and extent of the problem.
The Physiotherapist will then work with you to develop an effective treatment plan that takes into account your lifestyle, leisure activities, general health and what you want to get out of the treatment.
Sports injuries should be assessed by a chartered physiotherapist so the diagnosis and the correct treatment plan can be started quickly.
Immediate treatment with ice (always protect skin with a damp cloth before applying ice) every 2 hours for the first 72 hours is advised.
Physiotherapy at early stages may consist of providing optimal loading strategies of the injured area, protecting the area from further damage, Ultrasound, and taping of the injured area.
As the injury starts to heal the treatment plan will change and will be closely matched to the stages of healing of the injury.
Sports profiling or screening has taken off in the last few years.
It is common place in sport now.
The purpose of the profiling is to reduce risk of injury but also to improve performance.
It works by establishing a baseline measurement of the athlete with respect to areas of flexibility, strength and stamina.
This will then be compared to an optimal standard that would be expected for the sport you are involved with.
Once the sports person has been screened they then receive a personalised programme of exercises to follow in order to address the issues raised and improve their score before the screening is repeated.
