Connections Physiotherapy is a busy physiotherapy practice in Strathaven that is built on quality and good reputation. The majority of patients attending come through personal recommendation of friends, colleagues or family members. The practice was established in 2006 by Debbie Shannon, Chartered Physiotherapist. Her integrated, whole-body, hands-on, unique approach often leads to fast relief and aims to treat the underlying cause and not just symptoms.
Debbie qualified with a BSc in Physiotherapy at Queens College, Glasgow in 1986 and is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. She is a member of the Health and Care Professions Council.
Having worked as a Senior Physiotherapist in the NHS for over 17 years, she has developed a special interest in women's health issues and in the early 1990s successfully completed post-graduate training in this area and was awarded the Anne Bird Prize for contributing to the field of physiotherapy in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In 2011, she co-presented at an international conference, WCOGA, on "The Complex Nature of Chronic Pelvic Pain".

Debbie Shannon takes the physio profession to a whole new level.
Her whole-body approach is amazing.
She can tell which part of the body is causing problems before you even say a word.
Debbie has got me back on my feet both physically and mentally so many times I do not know what I would do without her.
She is one of the most genuine and caring people I have ever met.
I would recommend Debbie without hesitation and I can safely say phoning her over six years ago was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

To understand the concept that your body is integrated and linked together, imagine a three-dimensional knitted body shape!
If there is a restriction or pull in an area, then there can be long distance consequences, so sometimes where you feel your pain is not the root cause of your symptoms.
That's why the practice is called CONNECTIONS PHYSIOTHERAPY.
Often the aim of treatment is to achieve body symmetry.
What do we mean by that?
People watching is fascinating and if you observe the way people walk and the position of their shoulders, neck and hips, there are often differences from one side of the body to the other.
