Leyland Physiotherapy
Great opportunity for a Chartered Physiotherapist to work alongside a very experienced team, delivering 5 star MSK treatment, in a busy professional practice. Leyland Physiotherapy was originally started by Mrs Jenny Wood back in 1982. Because of the hard work she put in, and the great success she had with patients, the practice quickly grew and expanded into being one of the most trusted Physiotherapy providers in Lancashire.

Lynn Lea became a partner at Leyland Physiotherapy in 1987 and subsequently Michelle Kinney in 2002. Since then the practice has expanded and now includes an office manager and a further nine experienced Chartered Physiotherapists. The premises have been completely refurbished so that we can offer four fully-equipped treatment rooms. Lynn retired after 38 years as a successful physiotherapist, and the highly respected business continues to grow under the care of Michelle Kinney.

All of our physiotherapists are Chartered. This means we are governed by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy thereby meeting professional standards and adhering to the CSP's Rules of Professional Conduct.
Services
Physiotherapy is a science based profession, which employs proven techniques to promote, maintain and restore physical and psychological well being.
Before treatment can commence, the treating therapist will need to undertake a medical history and thorough assessment.
Following this, treatment options will be discussed with the patient and an individualised treatment plan can then be formulated and implemented.
At Leyland Physiotherapy we focus on providing 'hands-on' therapy as we find this beneficial in reducing myofascial and joint restrictions, thereby helping to restore normal movement patterns.
Leyland Physio treats a wide range of physiotherapy conditions from back ache and neck pain to joint problems, sports injuries, repetitive strain injuries, neurological problems and strains and pain during pregnancy.
Our physiotherapists look at the whole body rather than just the injury or illness you have presented with, so they can also offer you advice on lifestyle issues, posture and the prevention of further problems occurring.
This is not an exhaustive list but covers many of the physiotherapy conditions we see regularly at the center.
Shockwave machines deliver high intensity sound waves into chronic tissue.
This leads to a cascade of beneficial effects including increased blood flow, cellular activity, stimulation of collagen, dissolution of calcium, and ultimately pain relief.
It is thought that the shockwaves activate C nerve fibres which release a specific substance (substance P) in the tissue and in the spinal cord.
This substance is responsible for the slight discomfort during and after shockwave treatment.
However, with prolonged activation, C fibres become incapable for some time of releasing substance P. Less Substance P in tissue, means less pain for the patient!
Our team of physiotherapists are ready to help.
