Physiotherapy can be defined as a treatment method that focuses on the science of movement and helps people to restore, maintain and maximise your physical strength, function, motion and overall well-being by addressing the underlying physical issues.
The treatment method we use will depend on what symptoms you are experiencing as we have many different approaches we can use.
For example, for a soft tissue problem we may use ultra sound and myo-fascial release to aid the soft tissue healing.
Whereas for a joint related issue we may use joint mobilisations and provide you with an exercise plan for self management.

Shockwave therapy also known as Extracorpeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a clinically proven highly effective treatment for both chronic and acute soft tissue injuries.
As the scar tissue is non elastic it prevents normal movement and function so by increasing the circulation and breaking down the scar tissue, shock wave therapy will stimulate new cell growth and promote normal healing and rapid reduction of pain aiding normal function to be restored.
We pass high intensity sound waves through the body via a hand held probe.

Acupuncture is used with a combination of other treatments and rarely used as a stand alone treatment.
It is often used to reduce pain levels so that we can then address the underlying mechanical cause of the pain and the treat accordingly.
First thing we will do is talk you through how it feels to have acupuncture.
We assure you that any pain you may experience is short term and that we typically use between 7-15 needles.
Don't be alarmed about where your injury is, due to referred pain and specific acupuncture points the needles aren't always placed as close to the injury as you might expect.
