Pilates is a type of exercise that targets the deep postural muscles of the back and abdomen to build on your body's core strength and improve body awareness.
Developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920's, Pilates is still widely used today in both the fitness and rehabilitation industry.
Many people feel the benefit of Pilates for the management of back pain, postural correction, flexibility, general toning and feelings of wellbeing.
You can attend for a one to one session in the clinic or book a block of classes.
Shockwave or extra corporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is when mechanical pressure waves are passed into the tissue using a special device.
This produces a physiological response in the tissue causing increased blood flow and therefore increases the metabolism in the injured tissue.
This essentially causes an enhanced tissue repair response.
Evidence suggests that ESWT takes the tissue from a chronic to a more acute state.
This can be described as "kick starting" the healing process by stimulating the tissue from its stalled healing state.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine sterile stainless steel needles into the skin.
It has been used in China for over 2,000 years and increasingly in Western medicine with a growing body of scientific evidence and clinical research supporting its effectiveness.
Acupuncture promotes pain relief by stimulating the body to produce pain relieving chemicals such as endorphins and works for most people.
The number of treatments required depends on your response to acupuncture.
Acupuncture is commonly used by physiotherapists to compliment their manual therapy skills.
Physiotherapy can help keep your staff healthy and reduce the number of days lost to sickness.
Especially important where recurring problems such as back pain result in extensive days lost and affect business continuity.
We can provide on or off-site physiotherapy for your staff, injury prevention presentations and Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Assessments.
Under health & safety regulations, employers have a responsibility to ensure that DSE assessments have been completed for all employees Aberdeen Physiotherapy can provide DSE assessments carried out by a chartered physiotherapist.
