There has never been a time when the role of the Occupational Health Physiotherapist in the workplace has been so vital.
Worker's musculoskeletal disorders account for 49% of sickness absence.
With over 9 million work days lost each year in Britain as a result of musculoskeletal injuries amounting to over 550 million costs to their employers, physiotherapists are extremely well placed to provide a vital role in supporting employees and employers.
Back pain and other musculoskeletal disorders are the biggest cause of sickness absence in the workplace.
Our rehabilitation gym is fully furnished with both cardiovascular and free standing equipment that can be used to tailor a return to sport or work after injury.
All exercise programmes are coordinated and overseen by a Physiotherapist or a Personal Trainer with a specific interest in rehabilitation.
They may be on a one-to-one basis or in a small class situation.
Individual sessions are often done in conjunction with physiotherapy treatment, the exercise programme being progressed with improvement of the pain or joint limitation.
Sometimes when you're injured it's too late!
If you are considering taking up running or cycling why don't you book in for a hours assessment to ensure you have all the advice and exercises necessary to make your chosen sport as effective and injury free as possible.
Working as a team of Physio, podiatrist and fitness trainer we can provide a comprehensive assessment of all factors related to running injuries.
Using video motor analysis to look at your running patterns we can explain the biomechanics and assess any muscle imbalances in length or strength that may lead to trauma or overuse injuries.
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medical treatment technique, used today in the treatment of a wide range of medical conditions, and is particularly effective in the relief of pain.
It also promotes a real sense of relaxation and wellbeing - factors which are very appropriate to the use of acupuncture in physiotherapy programmes.
The procedure involves inserting fine needles at specific sensor points in the body these are left in place for between 10 and 30 minutes with stimulation provided by the therapist to control the effectiveness.
