Treatment may only require one visit, however in general you will be asked to return for a review and further treatment.
When you are fully recovered from your injury you will be discharged.
Please be advised that you may be asked to remove clothing down to your underwear so that the problem area may be examined.
You may prefer to wear shorts.
During your consultation you will be questioned about your past medical history and any medication, followed by an examination of the affected area.
After examination, treatment options will be discussed and agreed before treatment is commenced.
Here at Ford Physiotherapy Clinic massage unlike many other clinics is carried out by a fully qualified Physiotherapist.
Massage was initially the heart of our training.
Due to this fact Ford Physiotherapy Clinic has maintained this as an integral part of it's philosophy.
A good therapist is able to feel with their hands what the eyes alone are unable to see.
In a similar way that a blind person is able to read brail.
You have a choice of Relaxation Swedish Style massage or Sports massage.
There are a number of types of electrical therapy.
Here at Ford Physiotherapy Clinic we may utilise the following as part of a standard Physiotherapy Session.
I am generally of the belief that Physiotherapy is a hands on therapy and should always remain this way to gain a successful treatment outcome.
Electrical therapy is utilised as an adjunct to the main treatment.
Produces sound waves that create a piezoelectric effect by the vibration of crystals inside the ultrasound probe.
A ultrasound gel is applied to the surface of the skin which allows the sound waves to pass to either; superficial tissue or deeper to increase bone healing, depending on the frequency setting.
Focused Shockwave therapy, also known as Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) is typically used to treat deeper chronic conditions (3 months plus) that are unresponsive to standard Physiotherapy interventions.
It is clinically proven and a highly effective treatment for chronic soft tissue and bone conditions.
Many top athletes are treated with Shockwave for fast and optimum results.
It is important when investing in this sort of technology to ensure the equipment is able to deliver accuracy and reliability, as well as having the backing of evidence based research.
