The Therapy Centre opened in 1998 as a private physiotherapy practice and has successfully grown over the past years to incorporate further physiotherapists and other practitioners. Company directors Karen and Philip Duffell have worked together to establish a busy and expanding private multidisciplinary practice. Karen provides the company's business and practice management, while Philip leads a team of physiotherapists specialising in the treatment of musculo-skeletal disorders.
Services
All of our Physiotherapists are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and are registered with the Health Professions Council.
Physiotherapy is the treatment of soft tissue and joint problems using a combination of 'hands-on' manual therapy techniques, exercise, rehabilitation and re-education methods.
Electrotherapy is sometimes used to reduce pain and promote tissue healing.
Some physiotherapists use manipulation and can practice acupuncture for pain relief.
Effective treatment depends heavily on accurate diagnosis.

Radial Pressure Wave Shockwave Therapy (RPSWT) is a non-invasive treatment for soft tissue injuries.
Radial pressure waves directed to the site of the injury produce localised physiological effects which relieve pain and promote tissue repair by activating the body's natural healing processes.
Clinical research and trials have shown that RPW Shockwave Therapy is effective in treating problems that have failed other forms of treatment and there are NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) guidelines for its use.

Clinical Pilates is specifically used for rehabilitation from conditions such as low back pain, sports injury or following surgery and is carried out under the supervision of rehabilation professionals such as physiotherapists who have post graduate qualifications in clinical Pilates.
Our physiotherapist Michelle is able to offer clinical Pilates on an individual basis.
Each patient is assessed by the physiotherapist and given an individual program to address their particular need.
